Attorney Tim M. C. Olson brings a wide array of expertise to the firm. A graduate of the University of Kansas School of Law, he received the W. Ross Hutton Award for the best overall performance in the Douglas County Legal Aid Clinic during 2010-2011. While practicing in the Legal Aid Clinic, Tim zealously defended his clients against criminal charges in the Lawrence Municipal and Douglas County District Courts. Before joining Bell Folsom, Tim worked for another experienced criminal defense attorney who practices in Johnson County.

Tim has also amassed significant expertise in Immigration Law. He has clerked for the Kansas City Immigration Court, where he drafted opinions for immigration judges from around the country. Tim has coauthored various briefs submitted to the Board of Immigration Appeals while clerking at an immigration firm in Kansas City and as part of the Immigration/Asylum Clinic at the University of Kansas. He also interned at the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, where he conducted extensive research into postsecondary educational opportunities available to undocumented immigrants in the U.S.

Tim has volunteered with the Kansas City Worker Justice Project and is a co-founder of the Lawrence Worker Justice Coalition. Both organizations hold monthly clinics where victims of wage-theft and other workplace complaints can receive education about their rights and seek redress through the U.S and Kansas Departments of Labor.

Tim is fluent in both spoken and written Spanish. He has sharpened his language skills by interpreting in various legal and medical settings. While completing his undergraduate degree in Latin American & Iberian Studies at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tim was a regular volunteer interpreter at the Siloam Family Health Center, a non-profit clinic. Between completing his undergraduate studies and beginning his legal education, Tim worked as a Spanish-speaking research assistant for Vanderbilt and an independently contracted medical interpreter. Tim has also been the Spanish-speaking liaison for every legal office at which he has worked.
